重點句型|Sentence Pattern

(1) It seems that…

看起來;似乎

利用這個句型可以表示對事件的推測。句型后面通常承接that引導的從句。要特別表示是自己的想法與推測時，可用"It seems to me that...

It seems that Lydia can't join us at the party tonight.

看來莉迪亞今晚無法跟我們起參加派對了。

It seems to me that Kenny won't agree with this idea.我覺得肯尼不會同意這個主意的。

此外，seem后面可直接接形容詞或不定式。而形式主語it也可以換為明確的主語。

The offer seems disadvantageous to us.這條件似乎對我們不利。

This apartment seems very expensive.這間公寓(住房)似乎很貴。

The product seems to sell well.這個產品似乎賣得不錯。

但要特別注意的是，若是形式主語引導的句子直接接形容詞時，容易有語意不清的問題，所以最好只在會話場合且主題明確時才這樣使用。

It seems unreasonable.這似乎不太合理。

(2) ..makes one wonder if..

讓人猜想是否.....

這個句型可用來說明根據某件觀察到的事件進而做出的推測。If也可以用whether 替代，whether后面可加or not。

Jessie's sneaky behavior makes me wonder if she's planning something for my birthday.

= Jessie's sneaky behavior makes me wonder whether she's planning something for my birthday (or not).潔西鬼鬼祟祟的行為讓我猜想，她是否在為我的生日計劃些什么。

Mike has been absent for a few days, and it makes me wonder if he's sick.

= Mike has been absent for a few days, and it makes me wonder whether he's sick (or not).

邁克已經幾天都沒來了,這讓我猜想他是否生病了。

(3) sb. seems (to be +) Adj/to +V

某人似乎、 好像......

與前述的句型類似，但主要表示對人物的推測。此時以人物為主 請seem的后面可接形容調或不定式。

Sandy seems （to be)taller as I remembered珊蒂似乎比我記得的還要再高一些。

Roger seemed to forget about our date.羅杰好像忘了我們的約會。

除了以“(to be +)Adj."以及"to + V"的承接方式之外，這個句型也可以像前面所提到的，利用as if/as though/like來承接從句，表示“好像”的意思。

Maggie seems as if she has no interest in this topic= Maggie seems as though she has no interest in this topic.

= Maggie seems like she has no interest in this topic.瑪姬看來好像對這話題沒什么興趣。

Paul seems (as if/as though/like he is)tired保羅看起來好像很累。

(4) I can't help wondering if.../I can't help but wonder if...

我不得不猜想是否.....

同樣表示個人的猜測，這里介紹的兩個句型表現出自己并不想隨便猜測，卻不自主地這么猜想。

I can't help wondering if Tammy wrote the proposal on her own.

=I can't help but wonder if Tammy wrote the proposal on her own.

我不得不猜想這份提案是否是泰咪自己寫的。

I can't help wondering if Kevin and Gina are dating.=I can't help but wonder if Kevin and Gina are dating.我不得不猜想凱文和吉娜是否在交往。

(5) If my guess is right, ...

如果我猜得沒錯，

這是利用if引導的條件從句做出推測的句型。動詞用is而不是was表示在if引導的從句中所推測、假設的事很可能是事實。

If my guess is right, Mr. McKay will call again to negotiate the terms tomorrow.

若我猜得沒錯，麥凱先生明天會再打電話來跟我們協商條件。

.If my guess is right, Eva got the job as she expected

若我猜得沒錯，伊娃得到了她想要的那份工作。
