【詞匯精講】miss知多少，5層意思掌握了嗎？

    I miss you是經常用來表達想念之情的說法。但是“miss”作動詞使用時，有幾種不同的含義呢？今天，我們一起來學習下miss吧！

1、miss  想念

指因為某物或某人不在了，或者在離你很遠的地方，因而想念。在這種情況下，不要使用進行時ing形式。

eg.

· Ankita misses her boyfriend who moved to Europe.

· Edgar misses his parents now that he's living in the United States.

· I miss the carefree days of my youth.

2、miss 失去

    指你找不到某樣東西了在這種情況下，使用ing形式就很常見了。

eg.

· This puzzle is missing a few pieces.

· The store is missing a few thousand dollars.

· The police are looking for a missing child.(在這個句子中，“missing”是形容詞。)

3、miss  未命中

    你試圖擊打或者投擲某物但沒有命中，也就是“未擊中/未投中”的意思。

eg.
· Bobby swung at the ball and missed.

· That guy is a terrible basketball player. He always misses the basket.

· The forward missed the goal.

4、miss  沒去

    約定好了一次見面、一場會議或者某種服務，但你沒能趕上或者你沒去。

eg.

· Larissa missed her flight to New York. She'll have to get on another plane.

· Charles has been missing a lot of meetings lately.

· I'm sorry I missed the party. Was it fun?

5、miss  用作未婚女性的稱謂

未婚：Miss

已婚：Mrs.

不確定：Ms.

eg.

· Our teacher is Miss Rickenbacker.
