一看到“加油”，你是否就會想到"come on, add oil 呢？” 
其實這個詞在中文中有很多意思，在不同的意思下，英文表達也是不一樣的。

cheers 的意思是祝酒用語，意思是“干杯”，而fighting 一詞又太過激烈。 
給運動員加油鼓勁我們通常只要說“Go! Go! Go! 就好了。

此外“加油”還有以下意思：

給運輸工具添加燃油
英語可用動詞”fuel“,或者”refuel"。
The car stopped to refuel. 
車停下來加油。
All aircrafts must fuel before a long flight. 

所有的飛機在長途飛行前都必須加油。

給機器添加潤滑油：

這里可把 "oil” 當動詞來使用。
He oiled his bike and pumped up the tyres. 
他給自行車上了油，給輪胎打了氣。

所以 The car needs fueling 和 The car needs oiling 的意思是完全不同的。

老師通常會跟同學們說學習上可要加油哦
可用 ”make an extra effort" 或者 ”work with added vigor" 。
You must make an extra effort in your studies.
You must work with added vigor in your studies. 

為某人鼓勁加油

英語：cheer sb. on/  root for sb. 
Good luck! I will be always rooting for you. 
祝你好運！我會一直為你加油的。
The spectators cheered the players on. 
觀眾為選手們加油助威。
